Hey everyone!!!
It's been another great week here. I love being a missionary every day and being able to meet and interact with so many people. It's one of the best things you can do to strengthen your own testimony.
Our amigos Ignacio and Maria, the canarios, are awesome. We taught them twice this last week. They've been meeting with missionaries on and off for the last 10 years but it seems like they might finally be ready to change. We watched Pres. Nelson's talk from last general conference about receiving personal revelation in our lives. They love general conference and they say that they can always feel the spirit when they listen to the speakers. After that lesson, it clicked with Ignacio that the way the first presidency was reorganized and new apostles were called was exactly the same way that it was done in the new testament. They both want to get baptized and they're ready to start reading and praying to get a sure answer that it's what they should do. The week before, Maria said she would read the Book of Mormon but it didn't seem like it was something she was set on doing, but this week it was. God definitely has helped us in teaching them and I love being able to feel that we are instruments in His hands to help people learn about the restored gospel!
We also had the chance to meet a woman who was born in Austria but grew up in Venezuela, and we talked to her for about 45 minutes in the street. At first we were just talking about different places to visit in Europe because we thought it was really cool she was born in Austria, but then she asked us who we were and what we do. We got to explain that to her, and we talked about what makes our church different from the rest, and she really liked what she heard. But like a lot of people, she doesn't really trust organized religion, so we gave her a Book of Mormon and a card with our phone number and the address of the church if she wanted to go. I'm sure that sooner or later she will meet missionaries again, because I could feel the spirit while we talked to her. It was a really strange set of circumstances for how we met her, we were in a part of town we don't usually go to and I'm sure that God led us to each other.
For our preparation day today we went back to the south side of the island and went and saw a lighthouse on the coast and visited some sand dunes, which were really cool. I felt like I was on Tatooine. There are a lot of beach resorts around there so we also saw people from all over Europe there on vacation.
Anyway I hope you all have a great week! Go and share your testimony with someone!
