Hello, everyone!
So it's been a good 10 days in my first area! It's been pretty cold, it actually snowed. We have a few people who we are teaching right now. There's a big ward about with about 120 people on Sundays. There are a lot of musicians, and I've only met a few. I'm still looking for a cellist.
Today we had our temple day, so we went to Madrid with our zone. Elder Allan is in my new zone, so we saw him afterwards when we played volleyball with everyone. Then we came back to our area and visited a monastery in El Escorial, a village in our area. It was really pretty inside, and had some cool artwork.
There is a tree that supposedly only grows in the Madrid area. It's called a madroño, and the fruit is edible. We found some and ate a few. It's weird because it looks like a little berry with bumps all over it. Next week I'll be able to send some photos of them.
This week we've been doing a lot with Ilumina el Mundo, or Light the World! We're looking for ways to serve people ourselves, doing things like handing out free water bottles to people on the street (that really confused some people) and giving anonymous gifts to our neighbors. It's fun to focus more on this, and the members are doing a lot.
Sorry I can't write too much today, and sorry to anyone that I didn't reply to. It has been a busy day. I hope you all have a great week and are able to light the world!
-Elder Dobbs
