(From Corey's Mom: This email from last week only went to some people, so I'm publishing it again. I apologize if this is a duplicate for some of you! Apparently the blog was having issues last week!)
This week has been a lot of Christmas. We had our first performance with the Christmas missionary choir near a park in Madrid, which was really cool. However, on the way there, we didn't expect to see a giant model of Kylo Ren's lightsaber. So that was awesome.
We also had our Christmas zone conference on Friday, which was awesome. They talked about Christmas and the importance of becoming a consecrated missionary and really sacrificing what is hardest for us. It was definitely a good lesson to learn as a missionary and as a member. The other part of the zone conference was that there were a lot of musical numbers. And as conference got closer, I got asked to participate more and more. There were some members in our ward who lent me a cello to bring to Madrid, which was awesome. Afterwards we had a nice American Christmas meal, which was delicious, and then there was a talent show. I can tell you all that Elder Allan can dance very well.
Speaking of Elder Allan, we all had the option to get the flu shot right before zone conference, and he and I both got it at the same time. Something that you don't expect when you're growing up is to get a flu shot in Spain with someone in your Sunday school class. We have a lot of fun with things like that.
We've had a lot of cool experiences in our area going to nearby pueblos and trying to find people. The Spirit definitely guides us to find people that we need to.
On Saturday our ward had their Christmas activity, which was a Christmas concert/dinner. If any ward in Spain could pull that off, it's this one. There were about 15 youth members that all brought a variety of instruments. We as the missionaries pulled off a slightly less professional musical number. I was able to play the cello there, and a lot of members thought it was awesome that one of the missionaries could play it.
Anyway I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
Love,
Elder Dobbs
