I hope everyone's day is going well. If not, I hope it goes better. This week has been really cool for me and Elder Douglas. It was full of traveling and intercambios; on Wednesday we went back to Salamanca in the morning for a district meeting. Then on Thursday we had intercambios with the Gijon Elders, and on Friday with the Oviedo Elders. Today we planned a zone activity, and we all came to Leon to play sports, eat together, and play some other games. Tonight we're going to work in Leon a little bit, and then gather in the center to sing hymns as a missionary choir, and stay the night for zone conference. We are going to have all 16 Elders stay in one piso here, and the 6 Hermanas in the other. It's going to be an interesting night. But we have a cool zone.
On Saturday we didn't have anything planned, so we decided to go to a pueblo in our area. We took a map of the province and prayed to decide which one to go to, and we got an answer that we had to go to a pueblo called Peñafiel. An extra bonus was that it had a super cool castle, but we didn't know until after we had decided. So we packed lunch and got on the bus. We got there just in time for lunchtime, so we went up to the castle and ate right outside. It was cool. After we ate, we got to work. We were knocking doors, talking with people on the street, trying to go into small shops to talk to the owners, but no one wanted anything. We did that for a couple hours, and nothing happened. We got on the bus to go back, and as a last ditch attempt, we sat on different sides to see if we could talk to someone on the way back. There was no one near me, but my companion got into a conversation with a lady and taught her the plan of salvation, and she said she wanted us to come back to visit her next week. It was super cool to see how the Lord led us to her.
Another awesome way to find someone: on Wednesday afternoon, we were in a part of town that we had never been to, and we were walking around talking to people but no one wanted to stop because it was so cold. We passed a music store and Elder Douglas said we should go in to try and talk to the owner. We did, and to start the conversation, we told her that I play the piano, and she said that we were welcome to try them. So I went and sat down and started playing, and my companion waited a bit before he went and talked to her some more. When we had to go, she told us we could pass by some other day and talk to her. It was one of my favorite ways to contact someone yet.
I hope you all have a great week! Things are going great here, and I can't wait for Christmastime, which is coming soon.
Love,
Elder Dobbs
