General Conference Weekend

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a swell week. Here in Spain everything is going great. Today was transfers, so some missionaries in different parts of the mission got moved to new areas, but me and my companion both stayed here, and so did the Hermanas here. This week, we did exchanges with the missionaries in Azuqueca again except this time I stayed here in Guadalajara and my companion went to Azuqueca. Elder Wither came here and I had a good time trying to figure out where we were going all day. It turned out alright, though. We didn't get lost and we talked to a lot of people. He's been out for over a year so he knows Spanish really well. Then on Saturday morning we played soccer again with the member who invited us last time and his work friends. It was really fun again, and before the game Elder Molina and the member who brought us (different from the member who invited us) started showing me some ways to get better at taking shots on goal. I'm still pretty bad, but I'm slowly improving. I think that there's something special in the air here that makes everyone really good at soccer because pretty much everyone is. Right after, we got a call from an older lady in the ward to help with a moving. A friend of hers was moving some of his stuff into her storage, but her friend ended up not showing up that afternoon, so the member fed us and then we got ready for General Conference, which we watched at the church that night live from Utah. We bought headphones so that I could watch it in English on my tablet, which was really nice. I loved being able to listen to the speakers in English, it felt a lot more meaningful than the translations would have been. I learned a lot about how to be a better missionary and I learned a lot about the gospel, and it was overall really good. On Sunday we watched more sessions of Conference but we didn't finish it because the last session was at 10pm last night our time. We had a couple of the people we have been meeting with and teaching come to at least one of the sessions on Sunday. We had to explain a lot about what conference is but they both enjoyed it.
In the last week Elder Molina and I have learned a lot about hard work. This week we decided that we were going to try as hard as we could to try and talk to people on the street, which is something we had been kind of doing but not as much as we should have been. This week, even though contacting on the street is the least effective way to find people to teach, we have found two more people who we are going to start teaching soon, and both of them came up and talked to us as we were trying to talk to other people. It's the little things like trying to talk to someone on the street how we show our devotion to the Lord and that we are willing to work, and that's how we get blessed for work. This applies to all parts of the gospel, because there may be things that we don't understand why we have to do them, but there's always a reason for it and doing it will bring us blessings.
I love you all and hope you all have a great week.
Love,
Elder Corey Dobbs
