I hope everything is going well for you all. This has been a pretty good week for Elder Molina and me here in Guadalajara. One of our people that we are teaching is progressing well. Her name is Rosa Maria and she moved here from El Salvador about 5 months ago. She's been coming to church each week and last Tuesday when we had a lesson with her she showed us that she's been reading the Book of Mormon and underlining the parts she likes and she told us that she feels good about the church, she just wants to learn all of our doctrine before thinking about baptism, but she's liked everything we've taught so far. She said that she would pray to know if it's true and if she's really seeking the truth, which we're pretty sure she is, she'll receive an answer, so we're excited for her. Apart from her, we have a few other people we've been meeting with but she's definitely progressing the best.
This week we also visited our favorite members' house to have lunch one day, the Díez family, and they had me play the piano for them some more, which I always love doing. Then they also let us play Foosball there, which was super fun. They're an older couple who live alone and I think when the four of us missionaries in Guadalajara visit them they act like their grandkids are visiting with them because they always show us something cool they have.
Today for our preparation day, we went to Madrid to play soccer with a bunch of missionaries. I had a lot of fun because it was mostly Americans so I was actually able to play well. We played in the same field that we would play on when I was in the MTC and it was cool to be back there.
To end, we had one particularly cool experience this week, but the story starts a couple weeks ago when we met with a less active member that we teach named Roberto. We shared the scripture Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Then we said a prayer with him and asked him to pick a street in the city for us to knock doors. He gave us the street, which was kind of small, only about 8 apartment buildings, and the first day when we did one side of the street nothing came from it, but then last Monday night we went back there to try and finish it. Here in Spain, most of the people in the city live in apartment buildings so you have to press a button to call up to a specific apartment from the door to the street. Then if someone answers, you have about 5 seconds to say hello and ask if we can share a message about Jesus Christ or invite them to our free English classes before they say they're not interested and hang up. At one of the doors, a man answered and when I asked if he'd be interested in our English classes he said "Sí" and I was super surprised and for a second I thought I had heard him wrong, but he was interested and we went inside and talked to him about the classes, but then we ended up talking for about an hour as we introduced the Book of Mormon. We haven't been able to meet with him since then but we've been in contact and it was really cool to be able to see that miracle happen as a result of our prayer.
I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week.
Love,
Elder Corey Dobbs
