Story time. So the Saturday before transfers is when President Pack and his assistants call missionaries to tell them if they are gonna be district or zone leader or training or anything like that. We thought we were in the clear until around 7 when my old companion Elder Simmonds called. Elder Moore made me answer it and after beating around the bush a bit, and talking about the area, Elder Simmonds goes "you're gonna be a daddy!!" Translation: I'm training a new missionary for the next two transfers. I'm excited. For tonight I'm going with Elder Moore to Alcorcón (he's replacing Elder Allan there) and I'll stick with him and his new companion until tomorrow, when we have a meeting where the trainers meet the new missionaries.
This week: here the holidays just ended with Día de los Reyes Magos, where they celebrate the arrival of the wise men to Jerusalem. There was a parade that went through town, which we saw a bit of as we were talking to a Peruvian guy we had just met.
It also snowed! It's gotten really cold but on Saturday night it started snowing and most of Sunday, snow was falling. This morning there was a bit of snow on the ground. Even though it's very little compared to a real snowfall, it was exciting for a California guy like me.
Zone leaders came to our district meeting, which went well. Afterwards we went to Domino's together, which is always fun.
Our investigator Santos, from Honduras, officially finished the Book of Mormon. She really likes it, now we're helping her pray about it to know that it's true and that the church is true. She likes everything she's learning, she just needs to learn with real intent. Something that's super important. God will answer us when we seek diligently, with faith. If you read the Book of Mormon or the Bible just as a story, all you'll get from it is a bunch of cool stories. If you read the scriptures with the intent of drawing closer to God and learning about Jesus Christ, that will for sure happen.
I know the scriptures are the word of God and that this is His true church! Thomas S Monson was a true prophet called of God, as will be his successor.
I hope you all have a swell week!
