First week of Training

The first week with my new companion has gone well! His name is Elder Jones, from Sandy, Utah. He's officially been in Spain for 7 weeks today, and he's doing great. He's pretty smart, and he plays the cello like me, which proves that God exists and is mindful of us, for me to have a companion who plays the cello in the area where there are 3+ cellists in the ward.
On Monday night I was in Alcorcón, which was Elder Allan's area until last Monday morning. We had a small activity where we shared a message and ate food with about 20 people packed into the living room of a member's apartment, and when I told them that I was from the same ward as Elder Allan and grew up with him, they asked me, "how did you put up with him for so long?" But I could tell they loved him and had had a lot of good times with him. The Castaic ward is still very well represented in the Spain Madrid Mission.
This week we found a woman who's a less active member from Peru, named Claudia, who in 10 years of living here, came to church once. We were knocking doors in an apartment building and met her sister, Matilde, who told us that her sister lives in the same neighborhood. So we're trying to help them both come back to church. But Claudia has a husband and two kids who haven't heard about the church before, so we're hoping to work with them more.
Having a new companion has reminded me a lot of how I was at the beginning of my mission and how I felt, and I realized how much I've learned from my time here in Spain. I can testify of the truth of Ether 12:26, which says as we depend on the Lord for help, he will help us overcome trials and weaknesses, and also that the Lord loves us. I've seen so many evidences of it, even though there can be a lot of reasons not to be grateful to Him. We need to focus on the good in our lives and if we do, we will always find it.
Have a great day!
Love,
Elder Dobbs
