I can't believe it's already October. It's weird to think about what I was doing a year ago last October, and to remember that I was in Spain. Time is definitely flying, which is starting to scare me.
Anyway, this week was really good. We went on intercambios with the Elders here in Valladolid, and I spent the day with Elder Kraut from Sandy, UT. He's a quiet, funny guy, and has a great story because his family is inactive, but a year ago a friend of his invited him to church and soon afterwards some sister missionaries encouraged him to pray to serve a mission, and he got a really strong answer that said he should go. He's working really hard, and I admire him a lot.
General conference was fantastic. A lot of the messages taught me personally how to be a better person. Besides conference, there were a couple other fun things that happened. We talked to a member from England who was visiting and didn't speak any Spanish but gave us a good bit of English humor, ate lunch at Domino's buffet, and went to a hospital to give a blessing to the grandfather of a member, among other things. Outside the hospital there were a bunch of giant metal chairs stacked up as "artwork," which gave us a good laugh.
We also had zone conference last Friday, which was one of my favorite zone conferences I've been to on my mission. It was all about learning to use technology to serve the people individually. Every conference, my companion and I have our own part to teach with the Sister Training Leaders in our zone, and this transfer, our part was over 2 hours. Luckily we had a specific plan that we had to follow to talk about the smartphones and facebook and a bit about planning. I loved the conference because it felt like the Lord's hastening of the work arrived in full force to our zone. Now they all have smartphones and even though it's hard for us to get used to it, it's going to help a ton. We have a super cool zone. I love all of the missionaries in it.
Besides that, I'll send pictures of our p-days. Today we went to a pueblo called Simancas with some of the members and an investigator and visited a castle and ate lunch there. It was really fun.
Love you all!
Elder Dobbs
