This week we had two awesome things happen. 1. it snowed! and 2. we had a baptism. In the moment, the snow was more exciting, but the baptism was way cooler and more special. Last Saturday everyone who went to the baptism traveled to Valladolid, where there's a baptismal font, in the morning. The service went really well. We had a couple talks, then I accompanied the branch president Tiago and another university student named Fernando from the Canary Islands as they sang for a musical number. My companion baptized Felipe, then he and his fiance Denise bore their testimonies and we all shared refreshments afterwards. There were only about 12 people there (it's hard when you have to arrange rides for everyone), but it was cool to have a small group of people who all know each other real well. Felipe will be confirmed a member next Sunday since he couldn't come to church yesterday. It was awesome to see the change that the baptism had on Felipe; to begin with, he was one of the most humble and repentant people I know, and, after the baptism, you could tell that he felt lighter and more cheerful. He's had a rough past, and baptism meant a lot for him. It was all super awesome.
Now to talk about the snow. The snowfall lasted a few hours but it didn't stick or anything. Luckily we had other things to do (like an eating appointment!) besides being in the street talking to people during it.
Not much else super exciting has been going on this past week. Just working with some other people who are progressing little by little, getting to know the members more and increasing my love for them, and proclaiming the restored gospel to people.
Today for p-day, we explored in the old part of town and found a self guided tour of an old Dominican convent, and an old tower that used to be part of the outer wall of Salamanca before it expanded. The convent was really cool and pretty. It's called Convento de San Esteban and we got to go inside and look at the chapel and a really cool courtyard.
I hope you all have a great week!
Love,
Elder Dobbs
