This has been another pretty busy one. We went up to Leon again for our district meeting, and the bus got there an hour early so we were talking to people on the street and strategically made our way to the cathedral and took a couple pictures. It's huge, and has some really cool designs on the outside. The district meeting was pretty good, and we got food with everyone right afterwards.
We also had the Elders from Gijón (hee-hóne) down for intercambios this last week. On Friday I spent the day with Elder Hollist, the district leader up there. He's a great missionary. I wish we could see him and his companion more, but they took a 3 1/2 hour train to get down here. Sadly, we didn't have too many lessons to teach that day, but we worked hard and talked to some cool people. I learned a lot just from talking to him throughout the day.
Last Monday we visited a less active couple from Mexico. They're really nice and friendly, they just can't come to church because of work. They fed us one of the spiciest meals I've had on my mission (because in Spain they don't have very spicy food). I survived that part alright, but me and my companion aren't exactly sure what they fed us. There were beans and chicken, but there was something else that looked like she had taken the skin off the chicken and fried it. We were too afraid to ask, and it did some weird things to our stomach. We're still alive though.
We almost had a baptism this week, but our investigator is having trouble with coffee. She's addicted to it and everything was going well until Saturday morning, when she called and said she had drank coffee because she had a headache. Her name is Kennis, from the Dominican Republic. (We're teaching a lot of Dominicans right now). We're doing our best to talk to her every day to help her and encourage her.
We've also visited the Peruvian family that came to church randomly last Sunday. We went over twice and they're super nice. Jose and Diana are a young couple with two little girls, ages 6 and 1 1/2. They loved church, and told us that they had felt really welcome, and were really interested in learning more. We taught them the restoration, and invited them to read in the Book of Mormon, and they talked about how much they want a good church to raise their kids in. Diana, the mom, said she's always been unsure of other churches just because there are so many, but she feels different about this one. It's super cool.
I hope you all have another great week!
Love,
Elder Dobbs
