This was a pretty busy week, so I'm going to go day by day and talk about the highlights.
Tuesday: We had a really good lesson with our investigator Mádelin. It was about the Word of Wisdom. She likes to talk a lot, so sometimes our visits with her will take a while. We were going through the lesson, and in the middle of it, she started telling us about how the other night she got home from work after a really tiring day and she started praying, and then she said she felt an incredible peace and happiness, as if someone was hugging her, and as she was describing it, we felt the spirit really strong. It is amazing to see someone who needed God so much, and in her sincere prayer, she was answered so clearly. #Diosnosescucha
Wednesday: We went to Leon for our weekly district meeting, and came back with the Leon Elders for intercambios. I went with Elder Palacios, and we had a decent day. Elder Palacios was in the MTC with me so it was cool to spend the day with him. He's from Peru and he got baptized 3 years ago so he has a really strong testimony.
Thursday: Thursday morning we finished intercambios with a cool miracle. We took a map of the city, and prayed to know which part of the city we should go to to talk to people. Once we got the answer, we went to that area and started talking to people. Up until the very end, nobody wanted to listen to us. Just when we were about to decide to turn around because Elder Palacios and his companion had to get to a bus back to Leon, this guy came up and started talking to us. We gave him a Book of Mormon and are going to meet with him sometime this week. #Proverbios3:5-6
Friday: We ate with la familia Duarte in a pueblo called Medina del Campo, which a long time ago was an important city in Spain. We had pizza with the family, and after we shared a message with them, the dad was like alright, Elders, we're going to go see the city now! And he took us around and showed us some cool historic places, and also to a Renaissance fair that was going on last week. There was a really cool castle with an old dried up moat that was legit. On the castle, you could still see places where the outside wall was damaged from battles centuries ago. #súperguay
Saturday: We spent most of the day in a different pueblo with the branch president's family cutting down pine trees around their house. We were really tired after that, but it was a good day.
Sunday: Church was as great as ever, we met with a nice old Bulgarian woman, and talked to people on the street. Nothing out of the ordinary that day.
Monday: We had two baptisms yesterday! Kennis and Olifer. Kennis is a Dominican lady who has been meeting with missionaries for about 6 months and she was finally ready to get baptized. She was pretty much ready when I first got here, she just took a little bit longer to finally give up coffee. Olifer is also Dominican, and he's about 22. He's a stud. He knew about the church when he was growing up in the Dominican Republic, and here about a month and a half ago, some college age members were at the discoteca where he works, and they invited him to come to church the next morning, and he came and loved it. Since then he's been really motivated to learn more about the church and to get baptized, and he was really happy yesterday. They both were. I baptized Kennis, and my companion baptized Olifer.
Because we had the baptisms on Monday, we got permission to change our p-day to Tuesday. This morning, we went to the Valladolid cathedral to look around. there was a little museum right next to it that had some stuff from old churches in the area, which was pretty cool. This afternoon we're going to check out the science museum. The thing about Spain is that basically all museums are closed on Mondays, so we're taking advantage of today.
I hope you all have an awesome week!
Love,
Elder Dobbs
