So this week my companion Elder Molina finished his mission and tomorrow morning he will take a train back home to Barcelona. He's been an awesome trainer and a great friend too. I'm going to miss him a lot. The good news is that this week a bunch of members have been feeding us to say bye to him. My new companion is Elder McDade from a town near Modesto, California. He's been serving a mission for a little over a year.
On Thursday we visited the house of the Díez family, the old couple who has the grand piano, and they fed us lunch then they had us help them pick a bunch of olives from a tree they have in their backyard, and they said next time we come over we're going to do something with them to prepare them to be eaten. They also had us try a raw olive from the tree and it was one of the sourest, nastiest things ever.
Last Saturday we played soccer again and it's pretty much become a weekly thing. I was thinking about not continuing it with my new companion because sometimes I get really tired playing soccer because of all the running and I feel like I'm not that good of a player around the other guys there, and I didn't know what do, so I was praying about it because also it takes up most of the morning on Saturdays, time we would normally use for studies and proselyting, until about 1pm. Last night at a member's house, the father, Juan Carlos Arenas, who has come to play with us, basically told me that since we have 2 investigators who come play with us each week, it was something important that we were doing for them, and I felt like it was the answer that I got from God saying it was something that we needed to keep doing. It was a cool experience to see how God answers prayers. Also, my new companion likes playing soccer and he was excited when I told him about it.
Besides that, we've also been teaching Rosa Maria still, who is doing awesome. Last Wednesday we were planning on working with her to get her to start reading the scriptures and praying daily, and before we talked about that she said she was going to start reading a chapter of the Book of Mormon each night. She really likes what she's learned and she agrees with most of the stuff we've been teaching her and she really likes the church, right now she's just waiting for a firm answer from the Lord telling her that it's all true. We're really happy for her.
We also have Carlos and Brahyan, the two investigators who have been coming to play soccer. They're both Colombian, and they're both still just beginning to learn about the gospel but they're starting off well. Elder Molina has left Guadalajara very well off in terms of the missionary work and I'm excited for these coming months.
Anyway I hope you all have a great week! Until next time.
Love,
Elder Dobbs
