Anyway, this has been my first week serving in San Sebastián de los Reyes. A lot of people who live here call it SanSe for short. It's a small section of Madrid on the northeastern side. The ward here has about 120 members each Sunday, and even though that's not near as many as good old Castaic, it's way more than I'm used to on my mission. There's an awesome family from El Salvador (shoutout to Elder Mower), as well as members from all over South and Central America, and Europe and Africa.
It's also super hot...I've been here for a week and it got up to 100 degrees a few times, and at night it doesn't get cool. We have one room with air conditioning in our apartment, and luckily that's the one where our beds are as well.
As far as missionaries, there are 7 of us. Me and my new companion, Elder McBride from Missoula, Montana; the office Elders, who are three missionaries who are in charge of things like travel and the mission apartments; and two Hermanas. We have a chill district, which is always a plus.
My man Elder Allan is way up north in Oviedo, with a native trainer, and he's already a great missionary. Unfortunately, it will be a few months before I see him.
I went to a missionary leader training for district leaders and zone leaders last Friday, and for part of it, an area seventy from Spain, Elder Ruiz de Mendoza, spoke about missionary work and his own conversion, and how at first he didn't want to accept it, but the missionaries followed impressions from the Lord to keep working with him, even though they wanted to stop teaching him because he wasn't progressing. In his life, he began to see the hand of the Lord, and eventually he told the missionaries that he wanted to get baptized, much to their surprise. It goes to show that we need to follow personal revelation, because the Lord knows much more than we do, and when we trust in His guidance, we become tools in His hands to carry out the work. It was a very good meeting.
As of right now, the missionary work in this area isn't going as fast as it could be. But all of us are working hard to get it going, and really trying to involve the ward. Member missionary work is the best way to do missionary work! So always be an example of living the gospel and enjoying of its blessings in your lives, and where you can, think and pray about how you can help the missionaries in your ward, and with which of your friends the Lord wants you to share the gospel. I promise you all that you will be guided and you will be able to take part in the joy of missionary work.
I hope you all have a great week!
