I hope that you all enjoyed General Conference this last weekend. I did, although I prefer watching it in English over Spanish. There was a lot of great advice given on how to live in today's dangerous world, and that's why we have living prophets in our time to guide us.
Elder Santiago and I have been keeping ourselves fairly busy. We are getting a lot of good work done. Here are a couple highlights from the week:
I officially went on my first splits with members! We had a lesson scheduled with a Spanish man on Saturday afternoon, and right before lunch another investigator, Jaime, called and asked if we could come visit him that afternoon because he was feeling terrible because of where he's at in his life. We had to choose between visiting one or the other and it was really hard to figure it out, but we had the idea to try and call a couple members to help us out, and we found two who were available last minute, so my companion and I split up and each went with one of the members to be able to visit them both. Fernando, a university student from the Canarian Islands, went with me to visit Jaime. We mainly had to go to help him feel better. He stays in a rehab center during the week but he doesn't like going there and he's trying to figure out what to do with his life, and we're trying to help him to make the changes he needs to live the gospel in his life. He's a good guy, about 22, but he's at a pretty low point in his life. Even though the visit wasn't very effective as far as teaching him something, Fernando helped me a lot in comforting him and making sure he was okay. Both of the visits turned out helping each investigator a lot, so I was glad that we followed the impression to try and plan to do splits.
For our p-day today Elder Santiago and I enjoyed a lunch at Domino's Pizza with the all you can eat deal. It's not something that should be done very often, but it's worth it.
This week we had a lot of first visits with people, which was great. We visited with a young adult from Senegal who didn't speak much Spanish, mostly French, so we're going to visit him this week with Fernando, who served his mission in France. We also visited with an older man from Honduras, who had met with missionaries before. The best one was with another student from Extremadura, Spain, who absolutely loved hearing about the Restoration. She was explaining to us all of her doubts about the Catholic church and how churches in general aren't how they should be. As she was explaining all her doubts, it was awesome to see how many of them were easily resolved by the Restoration. When we started talking about the Book of Mormon, she got really excited and before we could finish she asked how much it costs. She was really grateful when we told her it was free, and she was telling us how excited she was to share it with her family. It was an awesome feeling to see how she was prepared to receive the Gospel.
I hope you all have a great week, and I invite you all to study with me the talks from general conference to see how we can better apply those counsels in our life.
Love,
Elder Dobbs

It's really cool to see that things like "Gangnam Style" are universal, all over the world. :)
