I hope that you all are doing fine. This week has been another pretty good one. As far as news, apparently it snowed one morning before we woke up but when we got outside, it was back to the normal cold weather. A few fountains are frozen, but I'm getting used to the continuous cold. We also tried pupusa, a food from central America that was super good. There's a family in the ward from El Salvador, and they made it for us one night. It's basically stuffed tortillas with a type of salsa on top. They make the flour dough and cook it already filled with beans and cheese, then serve it with salsa on top. They also eat it with their hands, which was kind of fun to do. I have a picture that the parents took with their phone of us and their kids eating dinner.
We also got to visit this tiny town that's a bit outside of Salamanca because a member lives there. We took a bus to a town on the outskirts, then had to walk about a mile to the town where he actually lived. It was really pretty to be outside of the city.
Salamanca has a river that runs through it, the Rio Tormes, and there are a few bridges to get to the other side, but one of them is called the Puente Romano, the Roman Bridge. It was literally built by the Romans almost 2,000 years ago. We walked to the other side and back and took a ton of pictures because we had a really pretty view of the river, and of Old Town and the cathedral here. Then we went down by the river and under the bridge a bit.
In terms of missionary work, we have someone with a baptismal date! Susana, a 19 year old girl, who met with the missionaries for a long time, but when I got here she wasn't answering her phone or anything. Last week we passed by her house, and she was there! We've been meeting with her older brother, David, who also has met with missionaries for a while. He's not quite ready for baptism but he's close. The only problem with both of them is that they're always hard to get ahold of, and that's why Susana lost contact with the missionaries a couple months ago, but we're working hard to stay with them this time.
Next week we're going to Madrid to visit the temple again, so we have to change our preparation day to Wednesday, so I won't email again until Wednesday of next week, for those of you who might get confused when that happens. Talk to you all then!
Love,
Elder Dobbs
