Hey everyone!
I hope you've all had a brilliant week. This week has been a very busy one for us. We went to Madrid 4 times this last week, plus we had a baptism and the ward Christmas dinner. I'll start from the beginning of the week.
Last Tuesday, we had a multi-zone conference in Madrid. All 5 of the zones in or close to Madrid spent most of the day there, where the mission president and his wife and a few others gave us some really good instruction in missionary work and the faith we need to believe that there are people that are ready to hear about the Gospel. Also, we were all fed a real American Christmas dinner with turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy and a green bean casserole and Costco rolls. And of course, cake afterwards. It was a really cool day. The next day, on Wednesday, my companion had to go to Madrid to renew his residency card that we have as foreigners living in Spain. It's good for one year so he had to go back. He went with another missionary in our zone while I spent the morning with the other missionary's companion in Alcala de Henares. On Thursday we had another missionary choir concert in the plaza outside of the Opera House in the center of Madrid. That went well but it wasn't as well decorated or as pretty as the other parts of Madrid that we've sung in. Then on Sunday we went back to Sol, the very center of Madrid, which was cool. The day before, Jose, a Colombian guy who is a member here, had given us and the Hermanas in our area some beanies so we took a picture all wearing the new beanies in Sol.
Last Saturday was our ward Christmas dinner, which was pretty fun. It started off with a type of talent show performance, where each group in the ward performed something different. Most people sang, but the primary kids did a cute Nativity scene. The Hermanas had a piano duet version of Sleigh Ride, which I played with Hermana Brotherson. It went pretty well for only practicing for about an hour in total beforehand, until we had a bad mishap with the page turning so we had to stop for a few seconds while we fixed everything. The rest of it was pretty good.
Anyway, last Saturday was Rosa Maria's baptism! Despite starting half an hour late, the service went really well. A good amount of ward members showed up, but not too many, and she was really happy. I also got to see my old companion and trainer, Elder Molina, because he came from his home in Barcelona to baptize her. It was weird to see him not as a missionary but I loved seeing him. The next day she was confirmed a member of the church and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. For me it's amazing to see how, as she has made this decision, she is being blessed and she has so many other blessings awaiting her in the future.
I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas this weekend. I love you all!
Love,
Elder Dobbs
